Executive and members of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has agreed to host the last and final ordinary congress in July, 2017, before their elective congress in August, 2017.

The call for an extra-ordinary congress was agreed on by both members of the stakeholder’s faction and the SLFA executive during Tuesday’s meeting summoned by the Sports Minister, Ahmed Khanou and his National Sports Council (NSC) team in Freetown.

Both parties extra-ordinarily agreed that the congress should be held between July 12, 13 and 14 but the SLFA executive are expected to confirm the actual two days of the congress from the given three calendar days.

According to a source that was present at the meeting, both parties showed understanding and do strike comprise on several issues for the hosting of the congress.

The source said: “We showed some understanding and decide to strike compromise, especially in the area of the 2016 financial report which the Football Association said was returned to them late by the Anti-Corruption Commission, who are investigating  corruption issues.”

He further revealed that: “We have decided to shelve the 2016 financial report for the elective congress but we are going to look at the 2012 to 2015 financial report and all other relating issues.”

The settlement of a congress date came just days after the Western Area Football Association (WAFA) admitted that they would not play any football competition until the SLFA addresses several issue relating to the game.

The WAFA demand came after the SLFA media department released a statement that a sum of Thirty Million Leones approximately (US$3,987) has been disbursed to all the four regional F.A. for the running of the 2017 regional female football league.

But the WAFA Secretary General, Kashor Holland-Cole, stated that they would  only play football if the F.A invites their chairman to all SLFA executive meetings and activities, allow the judiciary bodies to start work amongst others, match-fixing allegations be investigated, payment of WAFA Le 24,000,000 for the last WAFA congress conducted, an ordinary congress should be held immediately.
